For the recent Earth Day 2021 volunteers from the Eastham Conservation Foundation conducted a third annual trash cleanup of Eastham’s Great Marsh. The trash collected included mostly plastics of various forms—aquaculture gear, lobster fishing gear, and tires. The total amount collected this year filled four pickup trucks and weighed 592 pounds. This brings the total amount of trash removed from the the marsh over the past three years to more than two tons. 

The marsh is a much cleaner and healthier ecosystem now after removal of so much human waste. Thanks to all the volunteers who trudged through the muck to make a difference.
